Environmental Management System Certification
Since its foundation, L’Erbolario has taken a proactive approach to reducing the impact of its production facilities on the environment. This approach involves optimising processes to maximise production efficiency, reducing energy and resource consumption, and increasing the use of renewable energy sources to power our plants.
Our commitment to minimising the environmental impact of our operations is also demonstrated by our voluntary adherence to the ISO 14001 standard, a certification we have held since 2002.

Electricity from renewable sources
LifeGate Energy is a company that supplies businesses and private customers exclusively with 100% electricity from renewable sources certified by a Guarantee of Origin (GO), in compliance with European Directive 2009/28/EC managed by the Gestore del Sistema Elettrico (GSE).
LifeGate Energy also ensures that the renewable energy supplied is completely clean: the residual carbon dioxide emitted during the production and distribution of renewable electricity is offset through the purchase of certified carbon credits generated by projects that reduce CO₂ emissions (energy efficiency) or remove CO₂ from the atmosphere.
Thanks to LifeGate Energy, L’Erbolario not only uses 100% renewable energy, but also offsets the residual emissions, however minimal, related to the production and distribution of renewable energy.

Paper from responsibly managed sources
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international organisation that supports the responsible management of forest resources worldwide.
For the production of all our paper-based items (packaging, calendars, diaries, brochures, leaflets) we use only certified paper obtained from responsibly managed sources. We were the first Italian cosmetics company to be awarded the prestigious Forest Stewardship Council® certification.

The LAV – Anti-Vivisection League Certification
We adhere to the International Leaping Bunny Standard, which was drafted and shared by leading animal welfare organisations in Europe and the United States. This standard requires that companies commit to using only raw materials that comply with the standard after their certification. For this reason, the documentation of all raw materials used in our formulations is carefully examined by ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification), which certifies us on behalf of LAV (Anti-Vivisection League).

ICEA Certification for Organic Farming
All the medicinal herbs, ornamental species, fruits and vegetables cultivated in the botanical garden, on the farmland and in the woods surrounding L’Erbolario’s headquarters are grown in accordance with the strict standards of organic farming. Since 2005, these activities have been certified organic by ICEA, the Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification.

COSMOS-Organic Certification
We have obtained the “organic” COSMOS-ORGANIC certification from ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification) for the La Canapa line.

Good Manufacturing Practice
All our phytocosmetics are manufactured and controlled in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines under the ISO 22716 standard. This standard defines the guidelines for the production, control, storage and shipment of cosmetic products, ensuring consumers the highest standards of safety and hygiene.
