The delicacy of Spirea ulmaria
Meadowsweet
LATIN NAME: Spiraea ulmaria
PROPERTIES: elasticising and protective
The regal name of this plant is inspired by Queen Elizabeth I of England, who was known to be particularly fond of its strong fragrance. Meadowsweet, a herbaceous plant widely found across Europe and North America, grows in damp areas (woods, waterways, etc.) and has small creamy-white flowers clustered close together in cymes. It is found in our cosmetics in the form of a hydroglyceric extract, which is rich in Rutin and Quercetin, i.e. flavonoids with excellent elasticising and protective properties.
